Cooking Tidbits

Cooking for one or two always interests me, not only because that is what I do but because I often think of Seniors who cook just for them selves and how hard that would be so when I can learn things that help I get pretty excited. One such thing recently is that you can freeze cheese! I use up cheddar cheese fast enough but fresh Parmesan Cheese not so much.
I learned you can shred fresh Parmesan cheese and put it in small bags and then put all the small bags in a freezer bag. I am going to give it a try.

I freeze shredded cheese because it's convenient and reduces food waste.

I do freeze different cheeses that I use for cooking. I have had pretty good luck doing it.

It's a good idea.
One of the bones of contention when I moved up was they bought all their cheese already shredded.
I buy the bricks, shred, and freeze, small saving add up. LOL...But the first time I vacuum sealed the recently shredded cheese up here I had the vacuum too high and it pressed it right back into a brick. One mistake and they never let you forget.

I've frozen cheese before and have had good luck with it too.

I have never thought of freezing it!

Freezing cheese works! Living by myself, I've learned to freeze a lot of things. Breaking large quantities up into small packages is a great idea!

That is good to know! I don’t like to waste food! I cook for two but always make enough for leftovers. Louis Dean cooks hamburgers a lot. Every time I leave he hurried to the kitchen! He finally learned to cook all the patties and then take them out as needed to add the cheese. He’s had four hamburgers in the last two days while I’ve been gone!

I didn't know you could freeze it, but I will give it a try now! I love shredded parmesan on top of a big salad! I loved the pictures on the previous post, the pretty yellow flowers---i think maybe you called them "cat's claw"? Anyway, the way they grew up over that arch thing on the side of your house is so so pretty! Bunches of big yellow blooms trailing down.....
