The oldest hotel in the world

The Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan in Yamanashi, Japan, holds the Guinness World Record for being the oldest hotel in the world. The hot-spring hotel sits at the foot of the stunning Akaishi Mountains and has been in operation since it was founded by Fujiwara Mahito in 705 A.D. Since then, it’s been in the hands of some 52 generations of the same family for more than 1,300 years.
Keiunkan has 35 rooms. All guest rooms are designed with great care for Japanese tradition.
The building frame is made of strong steel bars, but the interior is a pure Japanese-style room that values the taste of wood.
All rooms have baths with hot springs.

A wonderful word

I am 72 years old and have had a many mammograms done and was never concerned about them as there is no breast cancer in my family and they have all been fine. However, two years ago  it came back troubled so had to have ultra sound and then a biopsy and eventually surgery for a radial scar. It was not cancerous  which I am thankful for but was still an ordeal. Needless to say that after having my mammogram done Thursday the  word BENIGN had a whole new meaning.

What a accident!

The tea bag was an accidental invention.

Image result for picture of a tea bag
In 1908, New York tea merchant Thomas Sullivan sent samples of tea leaves to some of his customers in small silken bags. Many of the recipients assumed that the bags were supposed to be used in the same way as the metal infusers. So, they put the entire bag into the teapot, rather than emptying out its contents.

Tidbits

If you happen to like biscuits and gravy here is a different rendition that is easy and good...
Take a hard boiled egg (they will stay good forever in the refrigerator if you don't peel them) slice on top of a piece of toast and pour a white sauce (2tb. butter, 2 tbl. flour and 1 cup milk) over top. It is yummy:)
