Arkansas Road Trip

Hubby and I had never been to Arkansas so decided a road trip was in order. We flew into Little Rock, Ar. and rented a car, then headed to Hot Springs. I had already made a hotel reservation at the Staybridge Suites  so that was all set but we hadn't made plans for dinner. We drove by many restaurants along the way but asked the desk clerk what she would suggest.... Her answer was the
Fisherman's Wharf  and am so glad we asked because we drove by but could only see the sign as the restaurant itself is hidden.

(If you have never stayed at  StayBridge it is a good deal, nice breakfast in the morning and free wine, beer and taco bar at night if you would like).

Hot Springs is known for their natural hot springs and I wish I would have arranged for us to have more time our second day here as the down town area was really neat with all the old bath houses and little shopping spots and etc. To be cont.

 

Out with the old and in with the new

We had been thinking about getting a new refrigerator but when it died the other day had to move fast. We had this refrigerator for 22 years so couldn't really be upset but trying to not lose food is not a fun task. I sing praises for Spencer's.

 

 

because in less than 24 hours this hole was filed with a brand new refrigerator!

They built this 2000 years ago and it covered 5,500 miles over vast terrain but we (U.S.) can't even build a fence to protect our borders with all our equipment and knowledge....

Did you know that plants talk?

I have several houseplants and they do indeed speak to me....here is one that is Happy, Happy, Happy.....

This is a spider plant and mint in my sewing room

 

This one is not happy and giving me warning signs...

 

These two are absolutely in love with their spot!

 

This one is neither happy or sad but simply surviving

 

He's giving up the ghost...hates the pot and the location

 

He is shouting for joy with hardly any soil!

Wishes do come true

Well my wish came true! I have a whole family of love birds now, Momma, Dad and baby who is blue....go figure.

 

I also have another new bird at my house.....

A little jaunt

Hubby and I took a little jaunt to Palm Springs, Calif. this past week-end. We have driven by here many times on our way to L.A. but never visited here. Calif. is not my hubby's favorite place due to their gun laws but we do go on occasion. Our hotel was just the nicest little place. It was small and intimate and charming...(double click on pictures for the best view).

The weather was simply wonderful and our stay included a nice breakfast...

Palm Springs sits right next to a mountain so the views are amazing...

 

and even though we didn't use the pool it was pretty to look at..

 

 

We took the Palm Springs aerial tram and though it was a bit expensive, it was an amazing view!!

We got a big kick out of these lighted menu's at the casino restaurant and

they also had wonderful food!

 

Even though my back is still bad and hubby has this cough he has had forever...we had a good time and am glad we ventured out for one of our little jaunts:)

 

 

 

 

Sprung

In all my enthusiasm for spring I "sprung" my back...

 

The only good thing is that I have been doing a lot of sitting and I

 

 finished the scarf...

 

 
 

 

I like it but realize I don't have anything to wear it with...hmmm maybe I need to go shopping:)

Breakfast for one

Did you know you can be prepared to have orange juice anytime you want even if it is only for one person?  Just take a bottle of orange juice and pour it into ice trays and freeze. Each cube will be about 2 tbl. remove and put in a freezer bag and remove and thaw as wanted....

 

 

What a nice treat to have juice without having to drink the whole bottle:)

 

Challenge

Most of you know, I knit for preemie babies for charity (see side bar) so when I saw this scarf

and fell in love and bought the yarn and started it....
I found out that bigger items and new stitches are a bit of a challenge!
Even though the colors are not quiet what I thought they would be I think I am going to be successful if I can just be patient and I do love the pattern.
