A-Z Challenge recipes letter G


 

Aunt Thyra's green beans

2# green beans                                             1 cup water
4 slices bacon                                               2 tsp. salt
2 small onions, chopped                               1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. sugar
 
Wash and tip green beans; snap into 11/2 pieces.
Fry bacon and onions until brown in large heavy skillet. Add remaining ingredients and heat to boiling. Cover and simmer 30 min. or until tender.

i always cook green beans with bacon, very yummy!! you are keeping up nicely with this challenge!!!

I have this same recipe but I omit the sugar and add just a splash of vinegar:)

This is the way Louis Dean cooks his green beans! Sometimes he adapts it and uses canned green beans!
