Pretty sore from walking but then I expected I would be. The Trevi Fountains were not far from our hotel so walked there after breakfast.
It is breathtaking! Especially when you are just walking along on a narrow street with shops on each side and round a corner and there it is. It isn't in a plaza like one might think and there is just a small area in front of it to take pictures.
Awesome details.
After I took my pictures we turned to leave and there was this "statue" all in black of a man with a cowboy had and guns sitting on the pavement. I said to my hubby "that must be an Italian cowboy....go stand by it and I will take your picture".
Well, it was not a statue at all but a real man posing as a statue and he wanted us to take pictures
and had his own fun....
for some Euro's in his can.
We headed back to our Hotel and rested a bit before our scheduled tour of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. This tour was excellent, it was all English and the tour guide was very in tune with stopping to explain things where there was shade and giving people rest time and lots of time for pictures and etc. I took lots of pictures but will only post a few....
The white section you see has been put there to help you see how that's were the stage would have been and all that underneath is where the animals and slaves and gladiators were.
See the metal cross? That is were the Emperor would sit. The Gladiators would stand before him and shout "Hail Caesar!" as 50,000 people clapped and shouted. It is hard to imagine it all.
A good view of the bowels of the coliseum.

it is just so imposing and amazing to see these ancient structures!
I have done a pretty good job of convincing myself that I don't care to travel outside the country and then you go and post these wonderful pics of your travels and tell the tales and I want to be there!!
WOW!!! What fantastic photos of your experiences...and I love the man posing as art. Isn't that wonderful? Thanks for sharing and hope the soreness goes away!
I would love to make this trip!

It is amazing how far we have come - I enjoyed these, but glad I live now.
