When I was a little girl I would walk down to the post office to get the mail and I had to stand on my tip toes to open the box with a combination dial...sort of like these.......
Don't really see them anymore but here at home I have one....
and I know the combination....now, what could I buy with all those pennies.

Most of the PO boxes around here now use a key, but I remember the dial combo boxes very well.
I admit that I am not at all familiar with them. Although I grew up as an Air Force Brat, we always had a typical mailbox.
Sorry since I came from Rural TN we did not have these. When we move to the big city of Elmwood, you had to go inside a General Store and walk to the back and ask the post master for your mail. Still no boxes. As for the pennies, they are more fun to save than spend. Do I see a dime in the mist of those copper guys? Peace
The post office in our little Kansas town still has old combination locks and it took me forever to get ours open. They sure are prettier than the new ones aren't they?
When I was a kid we had our mail delivered to the house, so I never got to use a combination box, but I remember seeing them in the post office.
