Welcome
If you are anything like me you often check out your front door to be sure it is welcoming to any guests that may come, but of course you don't use the front door yourself, you use the back door or the garage door. Well, it occured to me that I needed to be welcomed too so this is the sign on my gargage door entrance and it always makes me smile:)
Be sure to do something nice for yourself today as well as for others.

Glasses
Don't you remember when they first told you that you needed glasses? It was like....oh no...not me...but then you realized that you ONLY needed them to read...whew........
Then came the real fun, everytime you needed to read something you had to go FIND your glasses. Well, life is a lot easier now, I always know where my glasses are because I now need them to SEE so they are always resting on my nose:)

Candlelight
A few nights ago my hubby and I went to one of our favorite wine places (Jug and Barrel). We have gone enough that we know the manager/servers and they were really busy. I told the manager that if she gave me the clicker I would go around and lite the candles...well, she was surprised to say the least but it wasn't just because I wanted to help but also because it is one of my favorite parts of going there. They have candles everywhere and it gives off all these wonderful colors.
I was thinking that I don't lite my candles that I have scattered around the house and when I do they don't give that same impression.....dud....all of their candles are in colored containers and not just a bright flame......guess I better go shopping:)

My univited guest
This is a ground squirrel that has decided to join the variety of birds that I feed. I have never seen one before here in the hot valley so you can imagine my surprise when I looked out and saw him! I hurried and took this picture because my husband would never have believed me. Well, we have now added peanuts to the grocery list, I just hope it is a he and not a she!

Frustration
Just like journeying across this bridge only to find it abruptly ending, I start reading a blog site only to discover that they have not posted for months. I can understand that maybe we become tired of blogging or our lives change but isn't there some way we can be tagged as not active during these times?

Yearning
I have borrowed this picture titled (in the gutter) from http://www.kerrdelune.blogspot.com/
Her pictures are beautiful and create such a longing in my heart. I am a native of Arizona and mostly the southern part so my experiences of fall have been pretty bland. I love the colors, textures and the smells that this picture conjures.
The best I can do is sniff the little pine reeded basket that sits next to my computer that I brought home from a trip to Copper Canyon in Mexico. If I close my eyes I can almost see the pines.

Roadside controversy
I was pleasantly surprised to see the debate concerning roadside memorials in the Glendale, Arizona newspaper recently.
The poll shows that 24% are for them and 75% are against them. I am part of the majority of this poll but never said anything because of not wanting to offend anyone.
It occurs to me that those who put them up on public property that all of us pay for through our taxes have not thought about offending anyone.
Someone made a comment about having to rent such spaces from the city since this property is public land...maybe this would solve the debate. If it were important enough for someone to pay the city and in turn other citizens to mark the place of their loved ones death then it might be tolerated and I guarantee you there would be fewer of them.

One day at a time
There are days that are especially difficult to face and a simply reminder this morning for me was to take one day at a time and to see todays sunrise and sunset. Breathe................................................
It is hard enough to try to solve your own problems but then when you endeavour to help solve problems of those you love you face the impossible.

Beginning to blog
Hello World,
I have been told that blogging is the way to go to meet and greet the world. I am sure I am going to stumble around for awhile so I hope you all will be patient with me.
A motto I love:
Healthy things grow and growing things change.
I don't know if you are like me, but I have to constantly fight my tendency to choose to do the same thing over and over again just because it is comfortable. After all, no one likes to look like a fool or be dissapointed! However, I have found that when I have stepped out of my comfort zone I often am not only greeted kindly but find a wonderful new zest for life so won't you join me to try new things....Beginning today.
This picture was taken on a trip to xtapa, Mexico one of my many adverntures out of the box.
