A-Z Challenge Recipes letter W

White Sauce

2 Tbl. butter                                                  2 Tbl. flour
1 cup milk                                                     1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Melt butter in pan, blend in flour. Stir in milk and continue to cook and stir until thickened.

For cheese sauce add 1/2 cup cheese of choice and stir well.

Note: When hubby and I were first married he always talked about his mom making biscuits and gravy and I couldn't figure out how to make the gravy. One day I made this white sauce for some thing else and he declared that was the gravy!

So simple too. I did think of biscuits and gravy when I saw the white sauce.

I can never get the flour taste out of my white sauce. Wonder what I do wrong. My mom made it perfect. For pouring over biscuits doesn't it need a little sausage in it?
