Christmas Eve

For Chirstmas Eve we drove to Prescott and spent the night at the Hassaympa Inn. I have written about this place  before here . It is a beautiful historic hotel and they have many beautiful Christmas decorations so I thought I would share a few.
Little trees on tables...
By the fireplace
The biggest tree was in the main sitting room
and my favorite...
The peacock tree in the Peacock dinning room....
Up close.
We had a wonderful dinner and great breakfast and then headed homeward.

Christmas at my house

I really drug my feet on putting up any decorations because our kids moved to Texas so no one was coming over. I did finally decide I would put up just a few things that were really easy so here they are....
Front door...
Kitchen counter

Half wall into living room
Fireplace

Nativity scene given to us at least 40 years ago.

Christmas card holder

and last but not least this little tiny Christmas tree. I can't say I put the tree up but rather that I put it here as it never is put away, simply covered and stored. I don't know how many years ago I bought this but have always liked it and bought very special tiny ornaments for it...

I have always struggled to find a star or something for the top and this year I saw a pattern to crochet a angel so I went to work and here she is...

I am pleased and must say I have really enjoyed all the lights

Update for Thursday night dinning out

A while back I posted about our Thursday night dining place called "The Links". I had said that there was nothing special about the inside but they recently did a upgrade and it is pretty nice so will show you some pictures of it.

Golfers hats displayed on gold clubs. These use to be above the bar.
All new paint and new chairs...
New fun sign and pretty ceiling lighting...

Bigger dinning room
Glass enclosed dinning area looking out to the golf course

The bar area and see that guy with the bare leg? That is my hubby and our favorite sitting place.

A little inside advertisement and how clever to add the golf bag.

Sleep tight

Do you know how "Sleep tight" got started?

It comes from the fact that early mattresses were filled with straw and held up with rope stretched across the bedframe. A tight sleep was a comfortable sleep.

Tuesday night dinners

Tuesday night dinners catch up (this will be pretty simple because few were good enough to share the recipe)
This was sautéed Brussels sprouts and sausage sprinkled with parmesan cheese and a new microwave potato recipe. The potatoes were blah and the combination of sausage and Brussels sprouts weren't good. Not a keeper.
Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy and peas and mushrooms. This is not a new recipe but a oldie and it was good with the exception that the steak was tough as nails!
This is a pork stew cooked in the crock pot and the only good part was the mozzarella cheese on top.
However I made a small batch of corn bread and it was good and I have often used cream cheese with chives to stuff celery but this time I also added some small slices of cranberries and it was really good.

Wed. night dinning place

On Wed. nights we alternate between two places....

The name of this place is Heroes and it is owned by a three time purple heart Vietnam veteran. This is his parking place. It is pretty much a sports bar but with a big heart.

When you enter one of the first things you will see is this big cardboard with signatures of veterans, fireman, policeman and etc.

Had the opportunity of seeing a veteran in a wheelchair sign this board.

Mike's metals
                                                      This is Mike when serving.

This is our favorite place to sit and when it is nice out they open the windows like this.

A table for those not forgotten

A special place with great pizza

Our other Wed. night place is
Chili's
Our view from the bar

Love the spareribs here......
