A sweet story to share

The hubby and I walk the mall before it opens for a little exercise and we have done it for about a year now. There is a old woman who has had a stroke who walks with her son and we have noticed that as they walk they stop at the vending machines and she checks to see if there is any change left. A friend who also walks and has for years and years told us that the son sneaks ahead and puts a quarter in the slot for her to find every so often :)

A friend of mine posted this picture and information.

The 25-foot-tall Christmas tree made of tumbleweeds, a tradition that has been taking place in Chandler since 1957. City workers spent months collecting nearly 1,000 tumbleweeds to adorn a wire frame shaped like a tree. From there, the tumbleweeds were sprayed with 25 gallons of white paint and 20 gallons of flame retardant, then dusted with 65 pounds of glitter. They say Chandler's Tumbleweed Tree was the brainchild of Earle Barnum.
For those of you who are not from Arizona this is what a tumbleweed looks like

Friday night dinners

Our normal Friday night place is closed for 3 weeks so we have tried a couple of new spots.
Never did figure out how to pronounce it:) but was a nice place. This was the first bite

Cucumber slice with a sweet cream and a strawberry and a mint leaf in a sauce, It was good:)

This was hubby's supper...Gnocchi De Saumon * Pan Seared Salmon, Fresh Vegetables, Basil Pesto Cream    Hubby said it was the best Salmon he ever had.

This was mine.......Chicken Francese Seared Chicken Breast Filet, Lemon Cream Sauce, Angel Hair, Asparagus  I enjoyed mine and had enough chicken left over to make chicken burros for lunch.

This past Friday night we went here....

Cute decor...

Hubby had corned beef and cabbage with parsley gravy and I had the same thing but with a pork shoulder instead of the corned beef. It was delicious and we are having the left overs tonight:)

A Sunday jaunt

Week before last hubby and I went to breakfast and then a little drive to White Tank Mountain Park.
We haven't gone there in over 20 years and was surprised at all the growth of houses and businesses on the drive there. It is located west-central Maricopa and encompasses 29,291 acres of desert and mountain landscape. Being it is the middle of July here I thought for sure we would have it all to ourselves but there were many parked cars and even some motorhomes! Here are some pictures...

Heading towards it...

Many picnic areas like this with a grill too.
The last time we were here we walked there and there was a little water fall and some guys were repelling.
And of course cactus....lots of cactus..

Not a  problem for this little dove....
and nice restrooms too. It all was well maintained.

Saturday night dinning place

I have had these pictures for a while now but just too lazy to post them.
These are in the front parking area..

This the the entrance and years ago people tied up their horses to the railing but this day the lady just brought her's up for every to pet..

This is a rustic little place and has been here for many years, they have capitalized on the western theme...

This is the bar area and notice the horns up top...Upstairs is offices.

Between the bar and family seating is a little fence that totes this saddle..

and a cowboy leaning on a post...

In the woman bathroom...

Bartenders shirt

JD Campbells is the place.

Update for Thursday night dinning out

A while back I posted about our Thursday night dining place called "The Links". I had said that there was nothing special about the inside but they recently did a upgrade and it is pretty nice so will show you some pictures of it.

Golfers hats displayed on gold clubs. These use to be above the bar.
All new paint and new chairs...
New fun sign and pretty ceiling lighting...

Bigger dinning room
Glass enclosed dinning area looking out to the golf course

The bar area and see that guy with the bare leg? That is my hubby and our favorite sitting place.

A little inside advertisement and how clever to add the golf bag.

Wed. night dinning place

On Wed. nights we alternate between two places....

The name of this place is Heroes and it is owned by a three time purple heart Vietnam veteran. This is his parking place. It is pretty much a sports bar but with a big heart.

When you enter one of the first things you will see is this big cardboard with signatures of veterans, fireman, policeman and etc.

Had the opportunity of seeing a veteran in a wheelchair sign this board.

Mike's metals
                                                      This is Mike when serving.

This is our favorite place to sit and when it is nice out they open the windows like this.

A table for those not forgotten

A special place with great pizza

Our other Wed. night place is
Chili's
Our view from the bar

Love the spareribs here......
