Hidden treasure

Many years ago now I went to my local goodwill to find some cheap picture frames. I got several and one was really small with a picture of a girl with a balloon. When I removed the back I was shocked to find a beautiful hand painted picture...

This is what was written on the back

Looked it up and indeed her and her husband were painters. It is so small but so detailed..

Guest room

I have my parents first bedroom set and it resides in the guest bedroom.

I have two twin beds and this between them.

This is them in this little picture that sits on the dresser

My mother acquired a huge stack of old sheet music so l I created a  collage with them

 and my hubby's Dad's tuning fork.

Antiques

A while back I posted about  little antique truck that belonged to my dad here and I thought I would show the rest of this little area where it sits.

Can you see the little truck up under the greenery on the left? Well this wall hanging inspired me to buy the antique chair you see there to the right.

and this is how it all looks on a regular basis...

The bird cage was my Mom's as well and my daughter told me she saw one just like it in a antique store and it was selling for over $30.00. This is in my dinette area. 

The beginning

The picture of my Mom that I posted earlier is the reason for this setting ...

I had this little space next to our fireplace in the family room and I wanted to put the picture here so we went to a antique store looking for a small desk but low and behold this is what I found. It is called a side by side and it was a perfect fit plus it was built in 1918, the year my Mom was born! The picture to the right of the candle...

my Mom is the baby. Her parents immigrated here from Norway and homesteaded in Montana.

It is a beautiful piece and I have never regretted buying it.

Along with many old, old pictures I have these books that came from where my Mom went to school as a young girl...

and these old bookends keep them standing...

This is a traveling clock/radio and it folds up..

I took a liking to travel alarms and bought several old ones.

This picture is next to the one of my Mom as a baby and is of my husbands Dad's (first bottom left) family.

The pictures inside on the top shelf are all grandparents of me and hubby and the glass set below was my parents and has a Z on them for their last name "Zettler)

Below these are these old soda glasses...

On the bottom shelf are these two old dishes

This is all metal and has a little pedestal, may be like a bread dish.

Antiques

I was surprised at so many comments about my Dad's little truck because I have  lot of antiques from my parents and some I have bought.....

This is a picture of my Mom and she was horrified I loved it because her bloomers were showing Lol

Memories
