V for A-Z Challenge

V-Ventura, California

This is about a hours drive north of L.A. and I came here for step-son's wedding. A beautiful place that deserved more time and exploration.

The most amazing thing to me is that the town in right on the ocean

but in less than 30 minutes you can be up in the pines.

If that isn't heaven I don't know what is.

Went to the Pier and Promenade
for a nice lunch and walked down town to some quaint little shops. The hotel we stayed in had the most amazing clam chowder...makes my mouth water just thinking about it....

If there were more time I would have liked to go and see the Mission San Buenaventura

and I would have loved to do a whale watching tour...

You can kayak through sea caves...

and scuba dive

all around the nearby Channel Islands National Park

Or just do some hiking....

The Brooks Institute

is one of two art colleges located here in Calif. It offers four majors, two certificate programs and two graduate programs. It is located in the old warehouses once used in the oil industry and many display their crafts in quaint artist studios.

If we would have had more time I would have loved to have had dinner here on the pier...

and can you even imagine this beauty...
No I don't do all these things but am so glad someone does and shares it.

Happy Trails

Absolutely breathtaking. I traveled to California over 30 years ago, and did see some beautiful sights. I had two daughter who've lived there for a few years.

I had a cousin that lived in Ventura at one time. Sadly, I never did visit.

This looks like such a fun and beautiful place to visit. Oh how I long to do some travelling.

Have fun with the rest of a-z.

Aunt, Uncle and cousin lived in Ventura, California and we never visited them. Now all three are gone. What a shame that we never visited. Now I can totally see why they kept their home there most of their lives.
