If you have never read about the magnificent Air Force one you need to go here
For me, it is not a question of whether our President should have full protection and comfort while traveling, but rather is the travel necessary.
The cost of trips on the Air Force One -borne by taxpayers- are difficult to measure but as of Oct. 2009 it was estimated that it cost $100,219 and hour to operate Air Force one and of course that was only the President's plane and not those that accompany him or any of the security upon landing such as cargo planes to fly armored limousines, secret service, staff and equipment. As example, a total of 77 other aircraft were used on one multi-country trip to Asia by former President Bill Clinton in 2000 and the cost of that trip was $50 million.
President Obama had taken 7 foreign trips and visited 16 nations as of Oct. 2009. I am sure you know those numbers are much, much higher today.
Even trips within the U.S. require great expense to secure our President and family. If you want an eye opener go here to see an extensive list of travel by President Obama so far since he has been in office......... After reading this list you will have to ask yourself....who's minding the store?

My first thought was what the son said about his mother driving off with her driver in the movie "Driving Miss Daisy". GOOD GOD!!!!!! The national debt would be in much better shape if he had used the money for all those trips to apply to the debt. Maybe even wiped it out. Now that would have been an achievement. Every time he comes on the television under my breath I sigh The Media W---e. God have mercy on us to survive this Obama. Peace
Oh don't get me started! I agree. sandie
So you don't like Mr Obama?
Our country is finally waking up to government waste. Also in the news lately are the many mini vacations Mrs. Obama and the girls have taken and the costs incurred to taxpayers for their travel. Many Senators and Representatives are spilling the beans on pork spending. We usually don't blink an eye about $l million in over spending because in the big picture, that is a small amount. Well we have to start somewhere so why not start at $1,000. as too much waste?
