How did I live without the computer

On Kenju this morning she talked about getting her first computer and how did she ever live without one.......it sure struck a cord with me. I got my first computer in the early 80's by asking my hubby to buy me one for Valentines. I didn't have any idea what I was going to do with it but it was the up and coming thing and felt I needed to learn about it.
Little did I know how much I would come to use it. My first accomplishment was to create a Christmas label list....you have no idea how proud I was! Then came playing solitaire...yahoo, no shuffling required.
Much later I learned how to do a spreadsheet for the Union dues of our men that I needed to keep track of and even later yet......I did the payroll for 20 men. That was heaven after doing it all by hand. I am sure the men were happy too because there were no errs:)
Then came the Internet...........I wanted to learn how to do that so took a college class................after two weeks of a very boring class, I dropped the class and simply signed up for AOL and I have been using the Internet ever since. I do all our travel reservations, I have done our family tree, I wrote the book via the computer, keep our business books, blog, play games and on and on and on.............................
How about you? When did you get your first computer and what was your first accomplishment?

We got our first computer March '89
My first accomplishment was learning to search and later, to print recipes!
Interestingly, Wayne gave our older son our first computer and encouraged him to "learn it". He is now an executive project manager for a computer company.I'm still plugging away on it:)

My computer is a hand me down so I guess I got it right after Puppy went to college. Before I had used the computer to only do email as it is the most wonderful way to keep in contact with family and friends, especially those out of state, Each time he upgrades, I get the new parts. I now have a cordless keyboard and a flat screen monitor. After getting the computer to myself, I started doing more with my pictures, documents and then started bloggin. I still am inept on some things but each time I do something different I feel like I have graduated to a new level. I tried taking two classes at Puppy's college but I was too advanced for the class per the teacher so I just gave it up. Sorry, I get to saying too much with me key fingers. Peace

Yes, isn't it amazing! Life with the World Wide Net!?!

And I hope I never get over, how amazing it is. I hope I never grow too jaded, about the wonders of it. :-)
