Bloggerville

Like most of you, I have a list of bloggers I visit on a daily basis and I have noticed a decline of interest and postings. I am curious to know why. I have considered that the long winter is taking a toll with being stuck indoors or that maybe we just run out of things to say? Or that it is taking to much of our time? Your thoughts?

It is interesting that you say this....I hav noticed that a few people who used to visit me regularly don't seem to anymore...OR if they do, they are not commenting..And I'm not sure why that is? Also, a few seem to have just stopped blogging....No new posts for a long time....
The waxing and waning in the Blog World....I have no answers, at all. In fact, I feel like I have more questions than answers...lol!

That is the way blogs fall. You get hooked and they stop posting. I guess people have to take a break and sometimes the REAL WORLD takes over. I try to blog and read everyday but unfortunately the computer does not grab me before some other task . Some days I feel like a running back for some unknown professional football team.
Peace

I think that when blogging is a new hobby, there's lots to say and lots of topics to cover, but as time passes, perhaps we run out of inspiration. I certainly don't write something every day, and perhaps that's discouraging to people who expect a new daily post. Sometimes I click on a favourite blogger on someone's list, only to find the most recent post was 12 months ago, and I always wonder what happened.... did that person become ill, or die, or perhaps it was the computer that died.
Thanks for checking back to my blog, and leaving a nice comment about my gorgeous new grandson. I know I'm going to have so much fun being a Nana to such a sweetie!

Hi, I too have noticed similar things on the blogs I watch. As far as my own is concerned, during the long winter we have not done so much or visited so many places, so inspiration does wane. I have also noticed my daily reader total has been down recently too, perhaps I'm becoming boring?.

So far the blogs I check everyday seem to keep me coming back - I have a lot of time on my hands (although could be doing work in the house!)so spend a bit too much time on the computer.
Bloggers have helped me so immensely in the journey - your comments also.

Reasons I can think of is maybe something personal is going on with their life? Maybe they are not getting comments back? I ask you - who is the Blog for? Why do we Blog? It is for others or for ourselves? I get mixed up at times. Sometimes I do it for a 'history' of my journey through life and sometimes I write hoping to reach out to others and get comments. I like when people tell me what they think. I guess every Blog has a different meaning to each Blogger. And we do it for different reasons. Chatty

Good query. I have noticed the same and I have also been guilty of posting less. Reading other blogs is still big for me but I notice I am commenting less even though my blog friends are every bit as inspiring when they do post. Chatty Crone summed it up very well, don't you think when she said "I get mixed up at times."?

Actually, I find I've grown into blogging, but I don't always have something to say every day. When I started I was a bit tongue tied, but I'm more relaxed now. I do try and visit bloggers on my list as often as possible, but some days I just run out of time. Then I realise that I haven't visited a particular person for ages, and I have to catch up fast on what they've said and what they've been up to. Still, at least you don't miss anything because you can read what been written while you were gone. Why do we blog? Speaking for myself it started as an exercise in writing, and now I just enjoy it so much and I've met so many nice people online. I blog because I love it!

Everything works too slow, it's too complicated.
There are a dozen things to sort out.

Let's see... First I don't go around to blogs, every day. I do my blogging, via Google Reader. There, you list the blogs you want to read, and you are told when each makes a new entry.

Now of course, I have way too many blogs I want to visit... I have to put them in different folders. Like one for photo blogs. Another for 'Pretty' blogs. Another for this and another for that type. But I do find the use of Google Reader to make it much easier, to bounce around blog land.

And maybe since I keep them all in Google Reader, and have a zillion of them, I don't see a decline. Someone is always making a new posting!

Is blogging taking up too much of my time? Of course it is! I feel the desire/duty to comment in everyone's blog, who comments in mine. Etc. And there isn't time in the day to be as nice as I want to be, to everyone. -sigh- So, it is always a running battle, inside of me and for me. -sigh-

And again, I think this time of year is hard on lots of people and they may be getting kind of depressed with the cold/snow/ice, etc.

But then, when planting season comes, some will be outside all the time, and not in on the computer.

And there is more than you asked for, when you asked. -giggles-

My number of visits is way up -- but that's because Google is IDing more and more of my pictures, so a lot of image searchers land at my blog each day. I'm at a stage in my life where I needed some sort of a center; taking pictures and writing has filled that role admirable. Of course, I was a journalist all my life, so I'm used to writing on demand.

I'm preparing to move house over the coming months, so I don't have a huge amount of spare time between that and everyday living. Subsequently when I do have a few moments to try and chill my brain tends to be a mush ;)
