Around Town

One would never expect to find a monk monastery in the Wild West but............
just 12 miles from Florence, Az. you will find St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Monastery.
It is an oasis sitting right in the middle of the desert. The monks have built chapels, two churches, fountains, sandstone walkways, and planted thousands of trees and shrubs. You can visit but there are restrictions on attire so check them out before you go.

I like the idea of them having planted thousands of trees and shrubs. It must really be an oasis.

Since I might not make it to Florence, do you have any other pictures you wish to share. Thanks and peace be with you.

lady di tn....not sure what you are asking because the monastery is outside of Florence, Az. however if you click on the highlighted name and then on the visitors link, they have a slide show of the facility that is nice.
