By the 1970s Mother Theresa  had become internationally famed as a humanitarian and advocate for the poor and helpless, due in part to a documentary, and book, Something Beautiful for God by Malcolm Muggeridge. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and India's highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna, in 1980 for her humanitarian work.

 

Mother Teresa said "By blood, I am Albanian. By citizenship, an Indian. By faith, I am a Catholic nun. As to my calling, I belong to the world. As to my heart, I belong entirely to the Heart of Jesus."

What a heart that was....By 1996, Mother Teresa was operating 517 missions in more than 100 countries. Over the years, Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity grew from twelve to thousands serving the "poorest of the poor".


Mother Teresa suffered a heart attack  in Rome in 1983, while visiting Pope John Paul II. After a second attack in 1989, she received an artificial pacemaker. In 1991, after a battle with pneumonia  while in Mexico, she suffered further heart problems and died at the age of 87,  in 1997.

Knitting bag

I saw this on Pinerest and just thought it was soooo cute. I got to thinking how much I would enjoy a "to go" knitting bag. One that would have everything already in it you might need like scissors, tape measure, crochet hook, needle and etc. and all you would have to do it grab your current project and go.
I went to the  savers store and found this bag for .99 cents

Turned it wrong side out with the cool seams showing....

Got a old pair of jeans with some neat little features and started cutting and sewing.

 Little tiny pocket for stitch markers and etc.

 A little plastic case filled with different things fit perfect in this pocket and I left the top open for needles and taller items.

 A zipper pocket for on the other side and I first added the scarf but them I remembered how handy a bandana is in case of an emergency......

Legacy

First off I must make a confession....I have gotten drawn (hooked) into Pinning and have ignored my blog:(  but the good news is I have found some of the most interesting things there that are inspiring me and this is one I will share with you.

These are pictures of the Muppets and different characters with their creator,  Jim Henson, at different stages of his life. Note the really young picture of him at the bottom.

Jim Henson (September 24, 1936 - May 16, 1990) was not only the creator of the Muppets, but also the founder of The Jim Henson Company, and the performer behind many of his company's most famous characters, including Kermit the Frog, Ernie, and Rowlf the Dog.

He made a radical change in the view of puppets and in the use of them. Children readily accepted them and were drawn to them.

 One of the most famous puppets was Kermit but just look at all the

 

 

 other ones that we came to recognize and love.

 

Henson was struck down in his prime when he became infected with an extremely rare bacterium called Group A streptococcus in May 1990 that was discovered too late for him to receive proper treatment. He died at 1:21 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 1990, approximately 20 hours after checking himself into the emergency room at New York Hospital, not realizing how sick he really was. He was only 54 years old.

and in 2005 this stamp was released in his honor.
