The simply things

I don't know what there is about a campfire that is so mesmerizing but the world and all its problems fade into the task of keeping the flame going.
It is getting harder and harder to find a place to be able to go that is either not fenced off, too close to the highway, annexed and etc. to enjoy this simply pleasure. This is a family tradition we enjoy and thankfully we were yet able to enjoy it this year.

Around these parts, burning is very much frowned upon. -sigh-

Well, of course I can see the reason... As long as there are people who don't know what they're doing and all that jazzzzz. But I happen to love the memory of burning leaves in Autumn. And my Grands have never smelled it. -sigh-

Every Autumn I think about starting a tiny leaf pile on fire, right on the back patio, with the hose at the ready. Let us smell them for about 3 minutes. Then put it out. Before I get arrested, for so doing.

Maybe next year. :-))))
