Show and Tell Friday

There is no place like home

My dollhouse:

I purchased this dollhouse already put together but not decorated from a friend who was an antique dealer. When the time came that I started working on it I realized that whoever had put it together must have been recovering from brain surgery and did it with a glue gun! I sought out help and found out that I could use a hairdryer to take it apart and clean it up.......................so I totally disassembled it and started over.

I worked on it during the O.J. Simpson trial and it gave me a good excuse to be still.

I love it because it reminds me of the old homestead of my grandparents.

Yes, I did the electrical and roofed it:)

That is so cute, do you find yourself constantly looking for dollhouse additions or are you finished with it? I think it would be hard not to look for more items.

Oh my what a wonderful doll house restored! You are an artist. I have always had a secret desire for doll houses and miniatures but have never given in to it. Maybe when I'm 90!

That's gorgeous.
I had a doll house when I was little, it had electric lights in all the rooms, run by a battery at the back. My greatest fun was to play with it in a dark room, with all the tiny lights on, I would peer through the windows and make up stories about the little people who lived there.
I still have some of the doll house furniture, but sadly I think the house itself must have been given away once I was too old to play with it.
It had roses painted on the front and it was called Rose Cottage.
Sweet memories. That must have been more than 50 years ago!!! Yikes, am I that old??

My mother was into dollhouses. SHe had a huge one- with the funiture, lighting, carpet, wallpaper, painting, etc. It was an expensive yet breathtaking hobby. It must have taken you the whole O.J. trial!
