New Camera

I have had my old digital camera for at least four years now and you know all the improvements they have made in that time so, since my battery would not hold the charge for more than three pictures, I opted to buy a new camera instead of a new battery.

This is just the cutest little thing and where my old one was a 4 pixel this one is 14.1 pixel....wozier, wozier! I am going to try it out on our up coming trip but if you can't wait..... go to "Rambling Rae" and see the difference from the new post to the one before........ No comparison.

Did you know?

The only lizard that has a voice is a Gecko? It makes a barking, chirping or clicking noise when interacting with other gecko's.
They have no eyelids but rather a membrane they lick to clean.
They lay eggs and it takes between 1-3 months for them to hatch.
There are a multitude of different species but the one most common here in my area is a albino like one.
When we come home from dinner, we check to see how many are around the light on the garage. Often, a baby one will be on the door itself and ride it up.

They are known for being able to run vertical, even up glass and the reason they can do so is because of the way their feet are made.
They can run very fast and there is one species that can even fly! I think perhaps that was the one that zipped through my Hawaiian Luau plate of food at the Polynesian Culture Center in Hawaii several years ago:)

I guess you might be wondering why I wouldn't mind having them around?
Prov. 30:28 A lizard can be caught with the hand, yet it is found in King's palaces
I must confess though that my favorite one is on the TV

Hardware

No, I can't feel them (thankfully)
Yes, they are going to leave all of them there, and last....believe it or not, the Doc doesn't think it will set off the metal detector at the airport....should have made a bet with him on that one. I will find out later this month when we take a little trip.

Elephant in the room

Time and time again we endure these ongoing discussions over something that is so off target it is hard to grasp....here are just a few current ones.

Whether or not to extend the Bush tax cuts....this is a legitimate debate but whether or not to extend the tax cuts to only the middle class???? Has anyone read the 14th Amendment? You know the one the government used against Arizona to say you can't maybe profile or target any one group of people. Well, this is not only profiling, it is penalizing one group of people (the rich) and aiding (middle class) another one.

The Bush tax cut was an across the board tax rate reduction. Whether to extend it or not is the only question, not who to.

The next totally off the target subject:
Senator Reid's amendment to the defense bill called the DREAM act which is to give illegal immigrants a path to citizenship if they will go to college or join the military. First off, I question how many of the hundreds and hundreds of illegal immigrants that have crossed our border in the past 10 years Mr. Reid has encountered. The majority of them do not speak English and if his argument is that it is for those who where brought here as children 18+ years ago by their illegal parents.........they have already been given a free education to pursue college or any other dream they may have had including citizenship if that is their goal. It is too bad that Mr. Reid wasn't here for this protest....this is what he missed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9fvX6faRyY&feature=related Did you see anyone anxious to go to battle for the USA or rather, did you see hundreds willing to pick up a flag and claim rights that someone else fought for?

This video........ gives a perspective of someone who has fought for this country.

White House Scandal

It all took place in 1886 but began years earlier.
Grover Cleveland was a confirmed bachelor, at 48 years old, when he became the 22nd President of the United States in 1885 and his sister served as his First Lady but only for a short time because behind the scenes a love story was unfolding.
He first met Frances Folsom at her birth.

She was the daughter of his law partner, and upon Mr. Folsom's death, Cleveland was named guardian to young Frances. He was deeply involved with her upbringing and as she reached her teens, they fell in love. This was all kept secret until after he won the election and was established in Washington.

When the media caught wind of a presidential romance it pinpointed it to Folsom but assumed it was the widow of Cleveland's good friend not the beautiful, young daughter but once confirmed it was Frances, the media went wild with speculations and she became their media darling. They speculated that the wedding would be held in New York, their home state, and that remained front-page news in the papers until the wedding day which took place in the White House.

This remains the only marriage that actually occurred in the white house and took place in the Blue room State parlor on June 2, 1886.

He was 49 years old and she was 21 years old...the youngest First Lady in history.

Their marriage produced five children....their fist born was a girl named Ruth and there is much controversy that the Baby Ruth candy bar was named after her. Despite their age difference and their marriage in a fishbowl, they remained a loving couple until Cleveland's death in 1908.
Few of us have seen it, but Grover Cleveland's picture graces the $1000.00 bill

Politics

Contrary to current belief....there are no free rides

Proof of global warming

Tax the rich (on this note.....I thought we weren't to profile people or set them apart and treat them differently than others... oh I guess that is only if you are here illegally paying no taxes)

Walking

Recently far side of fifty http://farsideoffifty.blogspot.com/ left a comment about how she too had broke her ankle 30 years ago and was in a cast for months and months..had to learn to walk again and etc.

Today....they have hardware....plates, screws and etc. that allow you to get up way before the bones are actually healed.
two screws here..... a plate with seven screws here...

and I am walking! It's slow and not too pretty but I am making progress. It really is amazing that it has been less than seven weeks since it all happened. These are the only shoes that I can get on and think I may need to buy some more Velcro type for winter since the Doc says swelling will continue for some time. I will have to be more style conscious next year:)
