A Momma's love

17 years ago my daughter married and left home......One of the gifts I gave her was this recipe book

filled with many of my recipes along with those of friends and family that brought their favorites to her Bridal shower........ As you can see, it has been well used. Recently, I offered to make a new one for her because it is something I enjoy doing. It seemed funny to see all the recipes I wrote out in long hand for her and those of people we both remember well. There are some she used and some she didn't and of course she has added her own along the way but it is a gift that was appreciated and made from a Mamma's love.

That is incredibly sweet. I have something similar that my mom made for me many years ago. You have to know that it is a treasure to her.

You made the orginal one - 17 years ago? That is not to be replaced - make a new one in addition . . .

I have my mother's old cook books. Plus I collect old cookbooks that have been well used. There is nothing like opening a battered and dirty cookbook to the easily detected favorite recipes of the previous owner. Plus they have usually made notes that give great tips for changes.

This is such a wonderful gift and I am sure she treasured and used it well. I made my brother and sister such a book after Mother died but made sure I copied her handwritten ones to put into the book. By keeping the handwritten ones, your daughter can look and remember Mother wrote that. Peace

I have my mom's looseleaf Better Homes and Gardens Notebook. She has been gone since 1978, but the recipes are written in her handwriting and remind me of her every time I make something from the book. There is something so personal about passing things along to the next generation. Even if you make a new book, I bet she wants to keep the original one!
