Why do golf balls have dimples?
It's not so that they will look cute.......................................
The dimples maximize the distance golf balls travel......they travel four times farther than smooth-surfaced golf balls.
The science of aerodynamics helps explain the dimples phenomenon. The dimples reduce the drag on a golf ball by redirecting more air pressure behind the golf ball rather than in front of it. The higher levels of pressure behind the golf balls force them to go farther distances.
Now, how could you not live without that tidbit today...................Do you golf?

I golfed once on a big 18 hole golf course... and decided that golf just wasn't the sport for me, but put a putter in my hand and send me to one of thos mini-putts with the sinking pirate ships and jungle gorillas cimbing up palm trees, and I'm in heaven!
Tidbits Today would be a good blog title. No, I did not know that about the dimples in golf balls. I have never played golf other than miniature golf. However, I do own a supply of used golf balls. Why? Because they make excellent decoys to put in chicken nests to encourage a new flock of hens to know where their eggs should go. There you have a second tidbit:-)
I love these tidbits! I used to golf with a guy in university - he drove me crazy b/c we golfed rain or shine. Turned me into a golfaphobic- if that's a word:)Now only go to driving range. No wonder my golf balls go 40' - it's the dimples!
This is my bit of wisdom learned for today!!!
I really like your little tidbits of information. You learn something new everyday.
No I do not golf but was compared to a Golf Course by a boy I dated in high school. I might just post what he wrote in my Yearbook. Thanks for a jolt back in time. Come on over and pick up an Award I was given to pass of if you please. Peace
Hi, As a man i'm not too sure if I should answer the Title question, but now I can impress my Golfing buddies with the information.
Well, you all are way ahead of me:) I have never played golf and the few times I tried goofy golf I totally stunk!! The only thing I did well with a golf ball was play jacks on cement.
Granny Annie...I love your added tidbit. Had no clue and love it.
Jeanmac...think you just don't know your own strength LOL
Lady Di Tn...thanks for the award but like you, I have a horrible time trying to figure out who to pass them on to. By the way can you translate this one?
