A shopping headache

Well the old washing machine bit the dust and I can't complain because it has been washing for nearly 20 years:)
The dryer sitting in the back is 16 years old so obviously we needed to buy a set. Simple right???

The newest and best thing is the front loaders...saves water and energy and etc.

What they don't tell you is that there is no control panel on top so they sit below the standard hook ups! So even if you didn't think you wanted to buy the extra pedestals to sit them on you now have a very ugly view............ so it is off to the store to buy the pedestals but wait there is more..................

My son-in-law pointed out that the way the hook ups are the washer is on the right and the dryer on the left and when you open the doors...............
So the solution? Buy an extra long hose and switch them so off to the store.........and people don't understand why I hate to go shopping. Please forgive me for grumbling..I know I should be thankful but 20 years ago things were so much more simple...buy it, hook it up, slide them in.

You need a "connection" and I don't mean like an outlet. I mean a person who can keep you in cheap appliances. We have a connection in Tulsa. The man repairs and sells pre-owned washers and dryers. We have a nice set in our Kansas house and a nice set here. Knock-on-wood they have lasted well (Kansas 6 years, Oklahoma 2 years). However, if they break down, we can go get another nice set for $150.00 a pair that will fit exactly in the old spaces. Not that I'm bragging. Well, the new ones are prettier.

As my Cousin CD would say "I hear ya, I feel Ya." I like my new machines but the night mare of getting them installed is a long winded tale. Prince finally had to do the dryer door conversion himself, so the hinges would be on the left opening to the wall instead of the middle of the room and we still need to vent it correctly. I will never ever shop at H H Greg again. Peace.

Oh, they do look sweet, though! I opted for a regular top loader as wasn't sure how long we'd be in the house - but, I really, really wanted FL. Those bases aren't cheap, either!
Hope you enjoy - update us on this after you've run a few loads:)

My Son and DIL bought a F L set like that last year... they love 'em!
But you are right, after not buying a washer or dryer for 16+ years, it's hard to know what extra stuff you need to make it all work together!
